Working with the Media: Suggestions for PracticeThe Young Abusers Project and Simmons House Adolescent Unit, Camden and Islington Community Health Services NHS Trust, London, UK Although mental health professionals are in demand to respond to media enquiries about their work, relatively few are prepared to engage in the challenge. This article suggests an approach based on the assumption that media work is a public education service of value to the mental health professions and to the public. Guidance is given on how to engage with media colleagues in a positive and proactive manner despite the pressured context in which many media requests may arrive.
