Helen Orvaschel

This article presents diagnostic, conceptualization and treatment issues in a case of adolescent depression. The case illustrates three points: (i) the complexity of adolescent psychopathology, particularly problem areas that commonly occur with depression during this specific period of development; (ii) the conceptualization process of an intricate adolescent case; and (iii) the implementation of a cognitive- behavioral strategy that the patient uses to manage depressive symptoms.
