Commentary on Walters and Whiteheads (1997) Anorexia Nervosa in a Young Boy with Gender Identity Disorder of Childhood: A Case ReportChild and Adolescent Gender Identity Clinic, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Clarke Division, Toronto, Canada This commentary on Walters and Whiteheads (1997) case report reviews some of the rationales for therapeutic intervention with children with gender identity disorder. Factors that might either facilitate or impede the prospects for therapeutic change are also reviewed. A case example of a three-year-old boy is provided in which gender identity conflict was apparently resolved.
